I’ve been busy with a handful of things that I’ll hopefully be able to share later, but I wanted to post a quick update on our WV progress so far. We finally got a shed delivered to the property!
Choosing a shed
Mr. Nacho has been deep in shed research, looking at different options online. He initially considered building out a two-car garage with a living area on the 2nd level, but this would be much more expensive and we liked the option to be able to move the shed to another area of the property int he future if we wanted to. We decided that a pre-built shed would be the most efficient and effective choice for now.
He decided to work with a company local to the area to deliver the shed. It required half a downpayment at the time of ordering, and the remaining half would be due upon delivery.
We landed on an 12×16 wood frame, and metal-sided shed, which will be used for storage and maybe some woodworking too. The roof is made of metal and there are double-doors and single-pane windows. The walls are 7 feet tall. Having tools on-site will make things so much easier instead of hauling them back and forth every visit. At some point, he also plans to add a rain barrel to the setup.
Delivering the shed
We wanted it to be in the same area as our future parking area (more details on our overall layout and designs for the land here). Before delivery, we prepped the area by raking gravel and marking the placement with flags (so the shed company would know where to put it). The shed company handled the rest. They delivered it while we weren’t there and even leveled it out with supports. The eventual process was smooth, and it looks great!
Next up, we’ll be sealing gaps and caulking to keep critters out, but we’re thrilled to have this first big piece of infrastructure in place. Excited to keep building from here!
