A few days from now, it’ll be one year since I started this blog. April 23, 2024 was the date of my very first post, with the goal of writing weekly. And a year later, I’ve stuck to that goal. Time has flown by, and honestly I’m surprised (maybe a little proud too) that I’ve kept this up. What have I learned? Do I want to keep this going? Has writing helped me? Some reflections below.
- I still haven’t quite found my voice, but I’m starting to notice what feels natural and what doesn’t
- My writing skills have not gotten much better, but I think I need to keep at it still and spend more time writing
- Writing has helped me process things slightly better
- There’s still a lot of room to grow, and I’m realizing writing and reading more will help
- Consistency for a full year is something I didn’t expect
- West Virginia posts were fewer than planned; it’s just been hard to get out there and do the work
- Discipline and follow-through are probably my biggest wins, especially when there were so many weeks when I just didn’t feel like writing
I’ll be traveling the next couple weeks so I likely won’t be posting then, but I plan to continue to write into year 2 and see where it takes me.
