Part of me thinks that if I start writing down things I want to do, I’ll get creative ideas on how to take action. These are things I know I want to do but don’t have make the time, or don’t know how to start and/or improve.
I need to find more avenues for developing my physical and creative pursuits, so I don’t slip back into being continuously consumed by work to the level it was previously.
Physical health
- Enhance my balance
- Improve my mobility
- Boost my cardiovascular health
- Get stronger
- Eat more greens
- Drink more water
- Eat less meat
- Take up boxing
My physical health has definitely taken a hit since COVID. Before the pandemic, I was actively going to the gym multiple days a week, hiking, and even joined two kickball leagues. Four years later, I finally got the discipline to join a gym, but my balance and mobility are still crap.
In addition to getting healthier, I want to be as self-sufficient as possible as I age. I hope to make sure I can get to that point through improving my balance, mobility, cardiovascular health, and strength. Muscle loss begins at the age of 30 at a rate of 3-8% per decade, and the rate is even higher after the age of 60.
Mindfulness and simplicity
- Meditate more
- Be more in the present and stop worrying about the future
- Declutter my possessions
- Adopting a more zero-waste lifestyle
- Spend more time outdoors
- Reduce screen time
- Feel more connected to new recipes and cooking
- Find meaning in giving back to the community
Last year was when I really understood that happiness and peace comes from within. By being able to stop my thoughts from taking control of my mind and how I feel, I will be more at peace. Similarly, I expect that by reducing the number of possessions I own, I’ll feel lighter, and less stressed. Not to mention how much dust collects around “things” and makes it more difficult to clean.
I want to feel more mindful and connected to what is around me. This includes feeling connected to the outdoors, as well as food I create. I want to also feel more connected to the food I make.
Personal growth and connection
- Get better at writing
- Be better at keeping in touch with friends
- Make new and meaningful friendships
- Smile or say hello to strangers I encounter
- Have the freedom to do work I enjoy without being tied to a particular salary
- Live in a bright and airy home
I am not the best at keeping in touch with people, and I know I need to work more at building meaningful relationships. I’m hoping to make it a better habit to increase small interactions with strangers. I read there was a study that suggests striking up a conversation with strangers can improve your happiness and well-being.
That’s it for now. I hope I continue to grow and find peace and fulfillment. Wishing you all the best on your personal development journey.
